Noemí Sanín


As a lawyer from Pontifica Universidad Javeriana specialized in commercial and financial law, Noemi latter became a Harvard University fellow and a Honoris Causa Doctor from the Soka Gakkai University of Japan and the Universidad Autonoma de Bucaramanga. 

Ms. Sanin has been minister of communications and external relations for Colombia as well as three times ambassador for the country for Venezuela, Spain and the United Kingdom. Despite her accomplished career in politics, Noemi had an even greater goal and wanted to become president of Colombia. She was a promising presidential candidate for the presidential elections in 1998, 2002 and 2010 narrowly missing the presidency every time.

Besides Noemi’s political career, she possesses an inspiring record of accomplishments in the finance world. Noemi served as president of Corporación Financiera Colombiana and of the Corporacion de Ahorro y Vivienda Colmena. She has served as member and chair of various boards of top companies in Colombia including Banco de Bogotá, Telecom, Inravisión, Adpostal, Seguros Colmena, Promigas, Petrocol, the Colombian Federation of Savings and Housing Corporations, Grupo Caja Social de Colombia, and Compensar Caja de Compensación.

Currently Ms. Sanin serves as a consultant to various companies ranging from real estate, to academia, to consulting firms and investment banks in financial structuring and infrastructure projects among others.
